The Amah by Laurence Yep is a magnificent 181 page book. In this story Amy Chin faces some trouble when her mom gets a new job as an Amah. Her mother's late hours forces Amy to babysit her younger siblings, miss ballet practice, and almost lose her family. Amy and Little Miss Stephenie, the girl her mom takes care of, didn't meet for a while, and Amy had wanted to keep it that way. Amy has some rough experiences with her mother's new job, but also makes a great friend in this fabulous Laurence Yep novel, The Amah.
