4th quarter Matilda

Matilda is a 240 page book filled with such descriptive writing by Rhoald Dahl. Matilda is a 4 year old genious, who has to suffer life with a terribly wicked principal, Ms. Trunchbull, and two rude parents. On Matilda's journey through school, she finds new friends, kids being pulled by ears by Ms. Trunchbull, and a sweet teacher who simply wants to help Matilda. Everything goes wrong when Ms. Trunchbull begins to blame everything on Matilda, but on the other hand, Matilda finds something that isn't even humanly possible to find! This book is now the BEST book I have read, and it could be yours too!

The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet

The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet, is a 290 page drama- filled book. This story by Erin Dionne is about a girl named Hamlet, who has to live through middle school with her brainiac 7 year old sister, Desdemona. With Hamlet's parents who are over- the- top in love with Shakespeare, a younger sister who is taking college level classes, and a mystery pig admirer, nothing is normal in her middle school. Get ready for some serious junior high school tragedies with this unbelievably fantastic book! As soon as anyone picks this book up, they will never want to put it down again.

4th quarter Tuck Everlasting

This 139 page book is about a little girl named Winnie Foster. Natalie Babbit writes this wonderful book, and it is so great! When Winnie Foster runs to her woods, she finds a boy, Jesse, and a spring. She finds herself kindly kid-napped, learns about a secret spring that can make you live forever, and is forced to watch one of her new friends be told she will be sent to the gallows. This unbelievable book will make any reader want to cry, laugh, and keep on reading. This is definitely a book that every 6th grader in Fresno Unified should read. Prepare for a heartwarming story as Natalie Babbit takes you on an adventure no one could forget.

4th quarter A Summer to Die

A Summer to Die by Lois Lowry is a heart pounding, 150 page novel. Meg, the main character, has some problems when she finds herself moving, since her father needs a quiet town to finish writing a book. Another problem Meg runs into is arguing with her sister Molly, well that is until Molly ends up being taken to the hospital. In this novel, Meg is forced to overcome so many hardships and obstacles, like: building a dark room, preparing to help her neighboors have a baby, and not knowing if her sister will ever return from the hospital. One of the BEST books I have read, and a book I'd reccomend to ANYBODY looking for a heart warming story!

4th quarter The Awful Egyptians

Have you ever wondered what the point of a mouse was? Well, in this 138 page book, The Awful Egyptians by Terry Deary, you can find out! Well, this book has all of the facts you could possibly imagine about Ancient Egypt. From mummifying, to tomb robbers, to impalement; you have a question about Egypt, and this book will have the answer. Oh, and to answer the first question, mice were put in a person's mouth to heal a toothache. I know everyone wants to try that one!!! Want to know more? 4th quarter The Phantom Tollbooth

Wouldn't it be cool to venture to a land where you were "learning" with people who don't make any sense? In The Phantom Tollbooth, by Norton Juster, are 257 pages of exactly this. The main character, Milo, has almost NOTHING to do, or so he thought. Milo finds a tollbooth, the Phantom Tollbooth, and takes a step into a realm where he must save the princesses, Rhyme and Reason. He also finds himself becoming great friends with a humbug and a dog who ticks, named Tock. This fantastic book is definitely a book everyone needs to read. Want to know more?
